A dark-timber retreat on the edge of the forest, built for slowing down.
Out by Kummelnäs in the Stockholm archipelago, this quiet, design-led home is a proper escape from the city — a 32-minute ferry into central Stockholm, with the dock just a 15-minute walk or a short cycle away. Step out through the glass doors onto your own private deck, wrapped in birch and spruce, with string lights strung overhead for evenings outside.
The home has 3 rooms across two levels, plus one bathroom: a ground-floor living area opening straight onto the deck, an upstairs dining room that doubles as a home office beside a big window looking out over the forest, and a peaceful bedroom. The living space is warm and calm — a deep corduroy sofa, a palette of charcoal, oak and soft grey, and full-height glass that pulls the forest right into the room. Warm oak floors run throughout, and every room gets good natural light.
Outside, the deck is set up for lounging and grilling — a gas BBQ, a wraparound outdoor sofa, and a quiet spot for evening drinks under the trees. It backs onto grass and forest, with neighbouring homes built in the same understated modern style, so nothing feels overlooked. There's also a bicycle at the house you're welcome to use for the ride down to the ferry.
What's included: fast WiFi, free parking right by the house, washer and dryer, a gas BBQ, a bicycle, and all linens and towels provided — just bring yourself.
Getting in touch: I usually reply within a couple of hours, and I'm happy to help with local tips, ferry times, or anything you need during your stay.
Available from mid-November 2026 through 24 January 2027 — I'll be away on a longer trip covering work travel, a wedding, and visiting family in New Zealand, so I would like someone to take care of my home nest.
